Prayer is a posture of humility towards God. When pride is knocking at your door, answer it with prayer. Ask Him to humble you. Ask Him to search your heart and reveal where you have let pride take over, and ask that He would, through His power, help you destroy the grip of pride in your life.
The importance of humility and attentiveness in prayer. Learn why it is important to have humility and not pride. Pride is before a fall. Examples: Satan wanted to rule over the angels, but because of his pride, he fell from heaven with 1/3 of the angels. Humility and attentiveness are essential to keep the door closed from Satan. Hezekiah was a godly man but did have pride, and he had a sickness unto death. When he humbled himself, the Lord healed him and extended his life for another 15 years. Pride before a Fall is what happened to Satan. His pride before a fall and cast out of heaven. That is why we must have humility and attentiveness in prayer. When Paul tells the Corinthians of his ordeals, he plainly assures them he is boasting (2 Corinthians 11:16-21). For Paul, his sufferings, which he calls weaknesses, are boastworthy precisely because they leave so much room for God's strength to be revealed in Paul's life.
What is purposeful suffering?
The principle we walk away with is that suffering is purposeful. All hell, pain, and hardship fall under the providential control of God. And he is aiming to do amazing things in it and through it for our good and his glory.
Do you ever go through suffering in your walk? I know I have. It is hard going through suffering, but when you get to the other side, do you see the Hand of God in it? Why does god allow suffering? Is God punishing you? Or was God doing a work of transformation? Did you learn anything from it? Paul went through many times of suffering. Because he was thrown in jail, he produced the written material of the new testament bible. Paul's grief for Christ's purposes. Suffering produces fruit.

Trials are designed by the Lord to test our faith, humility, submission, and values. We can either waste our difficulties by defiantly resisting God or benefit by trusting in and depending on Him. The first way leads only to suffering, but the second option results in spiritual maturity and eternal rewards.
How does trusting God through trials become victorious?
Be Reconciled to God. According to the Bible, your first step in overcoming temptation is to turn to Him in repentance and faith.

26The LORD said, "If I find fifty righteous people in the city of Sodom, I will spare the whole place for their sake."
27Then Abraham spoke up again: "Now that I have been so bold as to speak to the LORD, though I am nothing but dust and ashes, 28what if the number of the righteous is five less than fifty? Will you destroy the whole city because of five people?"
"If I find forty-five there," he said, "I will not destroy it."
29Once again he spoke to him, "What if only forty are found there?"
He said, "For the sake of forty, I will not do it."
30Then he said, "May the LORD not be angry, but let me speak. What if only thirty can be found there?"
He answered, "I will not do it if I find thirty there."
31Abraham said, "Now that I have been so bold as to speak to the LORD, what if only twenty can be found there?"
He said, "For the sake of twenty, I will not destroy it."
32Then he said, "May the LORD not be angry, but let me speak just once more. What if only ten can be found there?"
He answered, "For the sake of ten, I will not destroy it."
33When the LORD had finished speaking with Abraham, he left, and Abraham returned home.

Do you want your prayers to be more effective when you pray? Do we need to know the strongman or principality to pull it down in many situations? Tearing down strongholds over your case. For example, your work, your children, your marriage, etc. We do not fight flesh and blood. Our wars are spiritual, so fight in the spiritual. How to Bind the Strongman in Spiritual Warfare
